shop local Norman Road St Leonards Christmas Shopping

The festive spirit is coming to Norman Road – the hub of happening St Leonards. Late night opening each Friday leading up to
Christmas gives you the opportunity a more relaxed browse, giving a wide berth to the seasonally shopping-frenzied crowds.

In September we brought you news of just how much things are changing on Norman Road. From what we hear, many of you were inspired to pay it a visit and were not disappointed with what you found (you can check out that feature in September’s issue online in the Archive at www.hastingshandbook.co.uk). And now, for December, we bring you a seasonal update on this increasingly popular local shopping street.

Christmas spirit aside for the moment, there’s real community spirit on Norman Road. The feeling that something good is in the air in this part of town has attracted more and more businesses to open there, including a couple of newcomers since our last feature, as well as many shoppers from Hastings, St Leonards and as far afield as Brighton. Everything from the latest electrical goods to the most unique antiques is available from the amazingly diverse range of traders here (not to mention the chance of a sit down and a rest with refreshments or a top-quality restaurant meal) so there’s no need to look any further if you’re local and are looking for original presents, cards, gifts or decorations. And while you’re browsing, you never know, perhaps you’ll find the perfect gift for yourself.

Each Friday in December – 7th, 14th and 21st – Norman Road will be open for late night shopping. Many traders will keep their doors open until 8pm, giving you the chance to
pop-in after work, soak up the festive cheer, and perhaps sample a mince pie and glass of wine. What a pleasant way to face the rather daunting task of finding that original gift
for every member of your family...

In these pages are dozens of ideas for Christmas presents, but you’ll find hundreds more if you go down and have a browse yourself. Happy hunting!

Adams & JarrettAdams & Jarrett  Originally a builders merchant where Robert Tressell worked as a decorator, Adams and Jarrett is now an independent electrical retailer with one of the widest range of products in the region. The company took on the name when the family business opened in 1968. Nick took over from his father and the shop still offers a helpful, old-fashioned service while selling some of the latest plasma screens, hifi systems, white goods, kitchen accessories and useful range of accessories. There are so many regular customers “It’s the service and the price-promise that keeps us coming back.” If you’re tempted by a 50 inch flatscreen Panasonic for a cinematic Christmas, stop by.  6-18 Norman Road, t: 01424 437 165  www.adamsandjarrett.com
