How much does it cost?

Advertising in the magazine and on the website represents unbeatable value for money if your target audience is Hastings residents - and since we're a small company there's no VAT to pay. All ads are in full colour and as a bonus you also get a free page on our online directory. We don't think there's a better value, more effective way to promote yourself in Hastings - see what you think:

We also offer one or two page editorial features, which are a great way to let our readers really know who you are and what you have to offer, since they are very striking and can get across much more information than you can in a normal advertisment. If you don't already have a suitable ad, we can design one for you from scratch or from existing artwork, letterheads etc. to a high standard and very cheaply (see below).

The magazine is distributed within the first week of each month and the usual deadline for copy is normally the 18th of the preceding month, but we might sometimes be able to sneak adverts in later depending on how it's all going... you can always give us a call and ask!

What do you need to supply for advertising?

We accept adverts in most electronic formats, including files from MS Word, MS Publisher, .TIFF, .jpeg, .pdf and Photoshop (.psd). We print in full colour on glossy paper at a high resolution to make your ad look as good as it can, so ideally the resolution of your file should be 300 dpi (dots per inch) at the size you want it printed. We can use files of lower quality and increase their resolution, but we can't work miracles so please supply the highest quality originals you can!

We know that file types, image resolution and print quality are complex and not the sort of thing that most people know about (or want to know about) so if you're not sure what's required please call us and we will do our best to explain.

What size should adverts be?

The table below lists the optimum advert dimensions in millimetres, inches and pixels.

Ad orientation and size (h x w)
mm
inches
pixels
Quarter page (portrait format)
93 x 65
3.7 x 2.6
1098 x 768
Half page (landscape format)
93 x 130
3.7 x 5.1
1098 x 1535
Full page (portrait format)
190 x 130
7.5 x 5.1
2244 x 1535

We can accept adverts that don't conform to these dimensions, though if we have to stretch or distort things too much there may be some deterioration of quality - we'll let you know if there's a problem.

Want some help with the advert?

If you want an advert professionally designed and produced from scratch we can help you. We've got professional quality digital imaging equipment that can scan anything from small objects to printed items and photographic negatives. We can generally take something you want in your ad and turn it into a useable electronic image file. We also offer professional quality photographic, graphic design and copywriting services. We can produce a high quality advert from scratch for as little as £10 for something very simple.
